Cinque Terre

Ciao from Italy!

We are currently spending our last full day in Corniglia, Cinque Terre. The weather, apartment, hiking and food has been perfect. We are going to be sad to leave but excited to travel on to our next and last destination, Barcelona. I am hopeful that tomorrow's day will be better than the travel day from Bruges to Corniglia. I started that day by throwing up twice before we we even left our Bruges apartment. It was a very long 14 hour day....and no, I am not pregnant. I think I just ate something that hated being inside me. Lance was a great partner that day: he carried my pack all day as well as his own; figured out all travel logistics (a train, a plane, and then three more trains); and found me a barf bag on the plane. What a man, what a man, what a mighty fine man!

Here is a picture of our 12th century apartment (we have been calling it our castle). It was constructed in 1151 and lovingly restored by the current owner Brunella. We love the gothic windows and old wooden beams.

Panorama from our terrace.  We have spent lots of time sitting out here reading books, drinking coffee and wine and enjoying the sounds of the Ligurian Sea hitting the rocks below.

This picture reminds me I need to shave my legs once in a while

Monterosso off in the distance....made me think of Sandor and Steph :)

Here are some shots of our tiny village from one of the many nearby hiking trails. Corniglia is roughly the same size as Lomond (population 250) but not nearly as charming..... ;)

And here are some shots of our day hiking to the next village north along the coast, Vernazza. For those of you following Lamy adventures since before Lamy became Lamy, Vernazza was where Lance proposed to Amy after Amy had a drunk meltdown. Romance. Memories can be rehashed here: http://lanceamyeurope.blogspot.it . Luckily, there were no tears shed in Vernazza this go around. The only moisture that fell from me was a profuse amount of sweat!

Told you so. Profuse sweating by me. And Lance looks like he smells like baby powder.

Cute!

The other village that we hiked to was Manarola. There were massive mudslides several years back that wiped out the main trail between Corniglia and Manarola so we took the longer and super scenic mountain route which also took us along some beautiful terraced vineyards. Very cool.

We are off to enjoy the day. Hope everyone is happy, healthy and safe.

Ciao,
Lamy
